What will happen at breaktimes and lunchtimes?
Due to the size of our school, pupils will not be able to mix together in the dinner hall as the maximum number for bringing groups together indoors is 50. Therefore, lunches will be delivered to classrooms.
All pupils entitled to Free School Meals, including Primary 1-3 pupils, will continue to receive a free meal each day. All meals will be delivered to classes in disposable containers. Teachers will take pupil orders first thing each morning to give the catering team time to prepare specific lunches for each child. Water bottles may be refilled with drinking water from classroom taps. Wipes will be available to clean taps before each individual use.
Money can be brought into school to pay for school dinners. We encourage parents/carers to pay for meals in advance to avoid bringing money every day. Pupils can pay this to their class teacher.
The hours of the school day have been changed slightly in order to maximise teaching time. The morning session will now be from 9:00am until 10:30am with break from 10:30am until 10:45am. The mid-morning session will now be from 10:45am until 12:15pm with lunch from 12:15pm until 1:15pm. The afternoon session will now be from 1:15pm until 3:15pm.
Breaktimes and lunchtimes will be staggered, therefore, breaktime for infant classes in the meantime will be at 10:15am.
At lunch, pupils will be given 30 minutes to eat their lunches in their classrooms and 30 minutes to play outside. This will reduce the amount of children in the playground at one time.
During both break and lunchtime sessions, one year group will have access to the pitch and pupils will be able to mix with other children in their own year group across a few playground zones.
